Here are some of Midlife Maestro’s favorite resources for dialing in your health, wealth and creativity.
Health
If you are interested in a vegan diet for health and global ecology, these two films are a great place to start:
How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease (book) —I’ve tried to pattern many of my dietary goals after this book. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a loved one suffering from coronary disease, or who is interested in the benefits of a whole-foods, plant-based diet.
Financial competence
This is an area in which I continue to learn. Check out these blogs, they are two of my favorites and they cover far more than just personal finance. They epitomize my holistic approach to health, wealth and ecology:
Early Retirement Extreme (blog) — A Combination of Simple Living, anticonsumerism, DIY ethics, self-reliance, resilience, and applied capitalism
Mister Money Mustache (blog) — Financial Freedom Through Badassity
Your Money or your Life (book) — by Joseph R. Dominguez, Monique Tilford, and Vicki Robin
This book will get you started down the path toward financial competence, in a big way.
Creativity
Steal Like an Artist (book) — by Austin Kleon
I credit this book for getting me back into the field of composing after a dry spell in which my confidence waned. It’s worth reading, and rereading may times.
